Delving deeper into the subject of change, here goes this song performed by Fiona Apple and originally written by The Beatles. It was included in the soundtrack of Pleasantville, which is one of my all time favorite movies, and which also deals with the interplay, the struggle between the need for change at certain times and the need to stand up and fight for what we believe in at other points of our existence; the frontal collision between our need to constantly evolve and our need to embrace and build upon our own singularity.
After all, quoting the character played by Tobey Maguire at the end of the movie: “There isn’t supposed to be anything”. There are no general guidelines to live one’s life, there are no predefined rules that universally apply to everybody, something that’s good for one person may not be the right thing to do for another… that’s what makes life somewhat scary, but it is also the only way to render it truly beautiful, truly exciting, truly interesting. He conquers twice, who conquers himself.
