Remi’s corner: Flan “Rat-a-plan” (donde lo toman, lo dan)

Wanna learn how to cook your own flan? It is very easy to do, it makes a great dessert and the ingredients are very natural and simple; no artificial anything, easy to find in every kitchen!!


- 1 liter of milk / 1 litre de lait / 1 litro de leche
- 4 eggs / 4 oeufs / 4 huevos
- 2 tablespoons of flour / 2 cuillères à soupe de farine / 2 cucharadas soperas de harina
- 7 to 8 tablespoons of sugar / 7 à 8 cuillères à soupe de sucre / 7 a 8 cucharadas soperas de azucar


Step-by-step instructions

1. Mix the flour and the milk in a pot. Start by placing the flour in the pot, and then add slowly the milk so that a uniform mixture is obtained.
Mélanger la farine et le lait en incorporant doucement le lait à la farine pour éviter les grumeaux.
Mezclar la harina y la leche, añadiendo poco a poco la leche a la harina para evitar que se formen grumos.



2. Add the sugar.
Ajouter ensuite le sucre.
A continuación, añadir el azucar.


3. Heat slowly and bring to boiling.
Faire chauffer lentement jusqu'à ébulition.
Calentar poco a poco hasta que empiece a hervir.



4. Break the eggs onto a bowl and beat them as if for an omelette.
Casser les oeufs dans un plat et battez les en omelette.
Romper los huevos en un bowl y batirlos como para tortilla.




5. Add the milk mixture to the eggs *very slowly* (to prevent the eggs from getting cooked by the heat).
Incorporer TRES lentement le lait aux oeufs (pour éviter de cuire les oeufs).
Añadir la leche a los huevos *muy lentamente* (para evitar que el calor haga que se cuezan los huevos).



6. Flan mixture is ready.
C'est prêt !
La mezcla para el flan esta lista.


7. Bake 20 minutes in the oven at medium heat (350F).
Cuire 20 min a four moyen (160°C).
Hornear durante 20 minutos a temperatura media (unos 160°C).


8. Take out of the oven and let it cool down for a while.
Laisser refroidir.
Sacar del horno y dejar enfriar un rato.


9. Place the flan into the refrigerator and let it rest for a long while (if you can resist temptation ;-) until the desired consistency is obtained.
Mettez au frigo et laissez refroidir plus longtemps (si vous réussissez à attendre jusque là ;-).
Meter al frigorífico y dejar que se enfríe durante un buen tiempo (si sois capaces de resistir la tentación ;-).
